Who we are?

IDA is an international independent non-governmental organization providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics regardless of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
IDA was founded in 2012 by Syrian doctors from Aleppo in response to the healthcare and humanitarian crisis in Syria.

IDA Syria is the main healthcare provider in the Northern Aleppo/Syria area, working closely with 500,000 IDPs and 700,000 host community through 20 healthcare facility and other health and nutrition projects

During last year, IDA has provided 1.2 million services in Heath, Nutrition, WaSH and Camp Management

Responsibilities:

Position Overview:

The Partnerships and advocacy Senior Manager is a part of the partnerships and fundraising committee and senior management team of IDA, which reports directly to the General Director. Partnership Manager serves as the lead of fundraising, in close collaboration with the Head of programs and General director, in the overall effort to mobilize and sustain growth in the funding base of IDA strategy, through targeted strategies and sustained relationships with existing and potential donors, including maintain an IDA-wide systemic coordination function for the management of donor and partner relationships. The unit will facilitate and direct the functioning of the donor partnership element of IDA globally and locally, and provide strategic, policy, and, where possible, operational support across IDA in resource mobilization efforts (training, information, advice, donor intelligence, tools and procedures, proposal support), thereby promoting a learning culture for resource mobilization.

Specific responsibilities:

These responsibilities will be the same for all positions with the same title.

Partnership Development and Management:

  • Develop and implement partnership strategies to expand IDA's network and secure diverse funding sources.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, INGOs, and other partners.
  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities aligned with IDA's strategic goals.
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring compliance with IDA policies and donor requirements.
  • Represent IDA in discussions and negotiations with partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement donor engagement plans in coordination with relevant IDA departments.
  • Strategic coordination of IDA-wide aligned resource mobilization efforts, in close collaboration with all stakeholders in IDA fundraising and partnerships committee.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilization:

  • Lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to achieve IDA's financial goals.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities from a variety of sources, including governments, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
  • Directly contribute to funding opportunity allocation process and represent IDA in discussion and negotiations with other IDA members where relevant.
  • Develop compelling grant proposals and concept notes in collaboration with program staff.
  • Oversee the grant management process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors.
  • Build and manage a high-performing fundraising team, providing guidance and support.

Communication and Advocacy:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of IDA's work and impact.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality communication materials, including press releases, website content, social media posts, and reports.
  • Manage media relations and ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence policy and promote humanitarian action.
  • Represent IDA at conferences, meetings, and other events.
  • Advocacy and outreach to influence agendas and mobilize financial resources.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

  • Lead and mentor the Partnership and Communication team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination within the team and across IDA departments.
  • Actively participates as a management team member to ensure good collaboration, communication, strategic planning, and implementation of IDA’s partnership, media, and communication activities .
  • Ensure compliance with IDA policies, guidelines and standards.
  • Play a role in Grant Opening and Closing meetings, as well as monthly/regular grants management meetings, which include representation from each unit (finance, programs, and operations) and ensure proper follow-up of issues raised.

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in international affairs, communications, business, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the broader sector of resource mobilization and partnership strategy or international institutions in the context of sustainable development and humanitarian field.
  • Knowledge of health and protection sector resilience-related processes and of the health sector more generally is strongly preferred, but not an asset
  • Exceptional competencies in writing, communication, and facilitation.
  • Proven access to a global network of donors and partners and leverage to build new networks and mobilize financing, short and long-term
  • Experience working within a humanitarian context;
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts;
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is essential, both written and verbal;
  • Good IT skills, including Excel and Word

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of the context in Northwest Syria and Azaz sub-district in particular
  • Proven track record of securing funding from a variety of donor sources.
  • Good standing and reputation in the community
  • Experience of working with local partners;
  • Experience of conducting assessments and monitoring activities;
