Welthungerhilfe's Head Office is in Bonn, Germany whilst the Syria Response is managed from our Country Office in Gaziantep. Welthungerhilfe was established in Turkey in 2013 specifically to help people who are affected by the Syria Crisis. Since then, the organisation has expanded its program scope and scale to make the greatest possible contribution to meeting humanitarian needs in Turkey and North West Syria. Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz and Afrin, as well as Gaziantep, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

PSS Facilitator*

in Hatay 

The position is to be filled by March, 2025, with a contract duration until 31.12.2025. Employment location will be Hatay, Turkey. The position is paid according to [[paygrade]].

Your responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Project, and the Project Officer in the Hatay office, the PSS Facilitator will work closely with the project participants for the provision of various PSS services. The PSS Facilitator will be supervising and implementing the PSS sessions and ensure smooth implementation, close follow up and accountability to affected population. The tasks of the PSS Facilitator shall include:

• Be a key part of the PSS component of the project, in terms of communication, coordination, implementation and documentation.
• Revising and adapting of PSS curriculum for most vulnerable groups including but not limited to women at risk, people with disabilities, people facing extreme forms of deprivation, unaccompanied and separated children, elderly, etc.
• Developing and delivering trainings for different stakeholders.
• Refer and follow-up patients to specialized mental health professional when necessary.
• In  close coordination with outreach workers, promote community-based PSS initiatives specific to the needs of girls, boys, women, and men, such as group and community oriented discussions, provide psychoeducation to the affected population on mental health issues and on the ways how to deal with mental health and psychosocial concerns
• Conduct group psychosocial support sessions through group activities, workshops and psychoeducation sessions
• Taking part in the implementation of different activities
• Conduct awareness - raising group sessions to refugee groups on PSS and mental health.
• Support the administrative side of the project in Hatay Office.
• The incumbent is expected to lead and support all efforts toward accountability to affected population, specifically to the clients and to Welthungerhilfe’s Policies Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
• Ensure all interventions adhere to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, and AAP standards.
• Uphold and promote Welthungerhilfe’s commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and safety of the vulnerable communities we serve.
• Behaving in mutual respect to other team members as part of work friendly environment
• Represent WHH in the relevant working groups and ensure attending strategic meetings when needed.
• Support in developing technical guidance for the project on PSS.
• Ensure the technical aspects of the activities are sound and in alignment with the WHH and donor guidelines.
• Prepare weekly plans, report them to the focal point of the project, liaison and security FPs.
• Ensure the PSS program is implemented effectively, youth are participating and relevant topics are provided during the sessions.

Based on the project needs, the PSS Facilitator may be asked to travel between cities and/or NW Syria requested by the supervisor and/or line manager.

In Addition to the above, the PSS Facilitator might be asked to carry out other duties requested by supervisor or line manager as needed.

Your profile

Required Qualifications;

• Education: At least B.A Degree in Psychology, Social Work or at least a B.A degree from another field of study with minimum 3 years of PSS experience required.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of humanitarian response experience in PSS.
  • Having organized and led group activities for participants of different age groups.
• Language: Fluency at least in two of the following three languages; Turkish, Arabic, English

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • Previous experience working in Hatay.
  • Having worked with teenagers, adolescents, and young adults.
  • Experience in developing session contents.
  • Background in different forms of therapy such as music, art, and theater.
  • Coordination and organizational skills - even under a high workload
• Skills:
  • Ability to work in a multinational team and diverse cultural group.
  • High level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions.
  • Strong analytical, information management and presentation skills.
  • Good MS Office skills.
  • Ability to build a network, initiate the work and work in a team under pressure.

The PSS Facilitator will be obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding all information obtained in the course of his/her work during the employment at Welthungerhilfe and thereafter.

WHH receives funds from its donors for projects. If necessary funds are secured the duration of the announced post may be extended. If project funding is not secured the activities will stop completely and the employment contract shall be terminated.
