Business Development Associate - Tender Distribution & Training

The Business Development Associate - Tender Distribution & Training is responsible for advancing Building Markets' business development objectives by enhancing the capacity and knowledge of SMEs, enabling them to successfully apply for and win tenders. This role involves developing technical expertise in tender distribution and providing training to support SME growth. The position is based in Istanbul or Gaziantep, with occasional travel to regional offices across Türkiye.

Responsibilities

Tender Distribution:

• Post tenders and diversify the types of tenders available in key categories and sectors.
• Support the Business Development & Partnerships Senior Coordinator by ensuring timely follow-ups with suppliers.
• Compile tenders and publish them in English, Arabic, and Turkish on Building Markets platforms.
• Develop and maintain Building Markets’ tender distribution database through online research and close relationships with procurement officers in the country.
• Proactively share tenders with specific businesses when a suitable match is identified.
• Monitor and track tender distribution services to inform the engagement strategy.
• Collect feedback from trained and mentored SMEs to refine tender distribution and advisory strategies.
• Respond to matchmaking report requests by connecting SMEs with relevant procurement and partnership opportunities, contributing to enhanced program outcomes and impact.
• Organize and deliver procurement webinars to educate SMEs on market opportunities, tender processes, and best practices.
• Contribute to developing procedures and strategies to establish Building Markets as a recognized authority in procurement within the Turkish market and relevant business communities.
• Support and act in the capacity of the Business Development & Partnerships Senior Coordinator during their absence.
• Perform additional tasks as needed, in agreement with the management team.

Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning: 

• Actively and promptly participate in weekly and monthly program reporting activities and other relevant reporting.
• Ensure that all financial and administrative requests and reports are completed in a timely manner.
• Maintain accountability to beneficiaries, affected populations, and stakeholders.
• Engage in organizational and program learning to continuously improve your work and relevant program activities.
• Participate in research activities related to your area of work as needed.

Other Duties Assigned by Management As Needed Such As;

• Event management and organizational support 
• Assist the program team with communication and scheduling appointments with Turkish-speaking SMEs 
• Foster and maintain relationships with NGOs to exchange resources and expand opportunities for SMEs through joint initiatives and partnerships.

Communications:

Collaborate with the communications team by sharing information and ideas to contribute to content creation.

General

Any other tasks as agreed with management

Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field and/or secondary school certificate and relevant professional experience;

• Fluent in English and Turkish; Arabic would be a plus 

• Turkish nationality;

• Strong organizational skills and attention to making sure details are correct, including managing data on client interactions;

• An extroverted personality who enjoys outreach and interacting with a range of clients; 

• Motivated to promote private sector development and support refugee communities in Türkiye;

• Fast learner with a resourceful and flexible disposition;

• Good written and oral communication skills across diverse cultures;

• Unintimidated by technology and comfortable using Google Drive, Excel, and online databases and resources (experience with WordPress a plus); 

• Experience in communications and marketing is a plus. Motivated to promote private sector development and support refugee communities in Türkiye;

Reporting Lines: Reports to Business Development & Partnerships Senior Coordinator / Country Program Services Director 

Location: Istanbul or Gaziantep, Türkiye. Travel to other cities as required

Duration: Fixed Term contract, until 15 May 2025

Travel: No obstacle to travel within Türkiye
