2.    Context

RI established operations in Türkiye in 2013. RI is headquartered in Gaziantep and has a presence in Hatay, Kilis, Adiyaman, Malatya, Kahramanmaras, Adana, Mersin, and Istanbul. Key sectors of focus in Türkiye include Health Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Protection, and Livelihoods.


3.     Job Profile

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation of staff, goods, and materials, thereby ensuring the efficient operation of the organization’s logistics. This role requires the maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s) in optimal condition, adherence to established safety standards, and the completion of basic administrative tasks related to vehicle operations. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the humanitarian mission of Relief International and to work effectively in diverse and, at times, challenging environments and abide by and work in accordance with the RI principles

4.    Key responsibilities and Duties

4.1    Transportation of Staff and Materials
•    Staff Transportation: Safely transport staff to and from field sites, project locations, meetings, office and other destinations as required by the supervisor or program staff based on project needs. Ability to travel for multi-day missions in Eastern Anatolia, South East Anatolia and Mediterranean region, with overnight stays.
•    Transport of Goods: Ensure the safe and timely delivery of humanitarian aid, supplies, and materials to various project locations or RI’s storage.
•    Timely Arrival: Ensure that all trips are made on time, respecting schedules for staff meetings, field visits, and project timelines.
•    Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient and safe travel routes with supervisor or security department, considering road conditions, security concerns, and project needs.


4.2    Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
•    Daily Vehicle Inspections: Perform regular vehicle inspections (e.g., checking oil levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, fuel) to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
•    Regular Maintenance: Ensure that vehicles are maintained according to the manufacturer's schedule, addressing minor repairs and reporting significant issues to the supervisor.
•    Vehicle Cleanliness: Ensure vehicles are cleaned regularly (both inside and outside) and that they are kept in presentable condition.
•    Safety Compliance: Ensure that safety equipment (e.g., first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, emergency supplies) is available in the vehicle and operational.
•    Accident Reporting: Report any vehicle accidents, traffic violations, or mechanical issues immediately, following Relief International’s safety and security protocols.

4.3    Adherence to Security Guidelines
•    Travel in Border Areas: Follow all security protocols and guidelines when traveling in areas with security concerns or heightened risk, including coordination with supervisor security manager.
•    Crisis Response: In case of emergencies or disasters, be prepared to transport staff and materials to designated sites promptly and safely.
•    Compliance with Local Laws: Abide by all local traffic regulations and customs, as well as Relief International’s fleet policies.


4.4    Documentation and Reporting
•    Logbook tracking: Keep a daily logbook of vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, trip details, and any incidents.
•    Vehicle Records: Ensure that all relevant vehicle documents (e.g., registration, insurance, maintenance records) are kept up to date and readily accessible.
•    Incident Reporting: Immediately report any accidents, security issues, or other incidents to the supervisor and follow Relief International’s incident reporting procedures.

 

4.5 Other Responsibilities
•    Support Logistics: Help prepare RI's Field Missions in Gaziantep region, as required. Assist with the loading and unloading of project supplies, materials, and equipment and move them to RI’s storage when required.
•    Flexibility: Be prepared to assist with other logistics and operational tasks as needed by the organization. Adjust working hours based on operational needs and support in other logistical tasks as required by the organization. Support the RI staff in Gaziantep with general administrative activities. Carry out any other duties that may arise from time to time.

 

5.     Qualifications
•    A valid driver’s license B and clean driving record, for at least 5 years.
•    Excellent driving skills including 4X4 handling skills.
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in an NGO-INGO will be an asset, corporate, or government setting.
•    Able to prioritize, work independently and as part of the team.
•    Flexible in schedule, attitude and work prioritization 
•    Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
•    Good mental and physical health & exceptional level of patience
•    Good interpersonal and communication ability
•    Documentation preparation and filing skills.
•    Sensitive to cultural and regional issues.
•    Required: Fluently spoken and written Turkish. Asset: English 
•    Willingness to travel to remote locations, multi-day missions in Eastern Anatolia, South East Anatolia and Mediterranean region, with overnight stays (on average 3-4 days per week)
•    Ability to maintain accurate log records.
•    Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
•    Educated qualification at least High School Certification Minimum of a high school diploma, additional training first aid, safety & security is a plus.
