General Post Description

The Finance Officer will provide essential support to the Deputy Finance Manager by assisting with financial tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes. The role aims to contribute to the accurate and timely management of financial data and reporting. He/She will closely cooperate with the relevant support departments like finance accounting unit and WOS finance team.  He/she will also need to work closely with the program teams.  

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks:

1. Financial Responsibilities

  •  Assists in maintaining the master allocation plan.
  •  Collaborate with the project finance team to allocate the shared costs on a weekly basis (Uncovered cost cleaning)
  •  Assists in drafting financial reports for specific projects assigned by the line manager. While ensuring the adherence of the donors compliance rules ( flexibility, eligibility etc.) .
  • Creates structures for new projects in the accounting system (Financial resources and implementation cards).
  • Assisting the Systems Director with supporting financial data and analysis if needed
  • Prepares project drawings for new projects, and updates the ongoing drawings regularly with cooperation with program teams. Raise potential issues (expected over/ under spending) in timely manner to respective people
  • Responsible for processing regular allocation checks for PIN’s active projects, makes sure that the allocated costs are in line with internal and donor rules
  • Ensures the correct coding of costs per project and helps with corrections.
  • Verifies correct posting of documents.
  • Prepares data to support the answer to various donors' queries.
  • Ensures correct coding of Payment Requests and other required documents.
  • Participates in the preparation of the audit sample (external project audits or statutory audits) and necessary secondary checks when needed
  • Supports Deputy Finance Manager in the preparation of the NWS and Turkey proposals’ budget
  • Supports other finance staff with ad-hoc financial issues, when needed
  • Back-up the Deputy Finance Manager with following up on the installment schedule from donors

2. Other

  • Other tasks assigned by the employee’s LM corresponding to the needs of the programme
  • Substitute relevant colleagues (fully or partially) during their absence when assigned by employee’s LM
  • Understand and adhere to the PIN’s National Staff Handbook, PIN Code of Conduct and Key Policies and relevant guidelines

 Required Skills

  • Familiar with the humanitarian and geographical context in Syria.
  • Applicants should be (Turkish Citizens).
  • Ability to work independently, and produce quality work consistently
  • Excellent IT skills - Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Have High integrity and demonstrated ability to follow standards and policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in economy or relevant field
  • More than two years of progressive experience working in a similar role for non-governmental organizations.
  • English language (mandatory) Turkish and Arabic language skills are an advantage;
