Duty Station: Gaziantep

Duration: 1 year – with the possibility of extension

A. Main Responsibilities

• You ensure management of the component and coordinate the advisory and support services in the health sector in Türkiye, the monitoring of impacts, indicators, and activities.
• You liaise with relevant government bodies in the areas of implementation and in the development cooperation community regarding matters in the health sector and support strategic development if necessary.
• In close consultation with the person responsible for the commission, you will select the implementing partners for the component.
• You will be responsible for the technical support of the component, including tenders for financing and consulting contracts for the component.
• You keep a close eye on the political and implementation risks and react with appropriate risk-mitigating measures.

B. Required qualifications, competencies, and experience

Education

• Master’s degree is required (MA/MSc) in Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Health Sciences or relevant field.

Professional Experience

• Extensive knowledge and practical experience with the commissioning and financial management of BMZ-funded projects
• More than 5 years of professional experience in development cooperation, especially in the context of crisis management and/or emergency and transitional aid, particularly the promotion of resilience, health care provision, MHPSS
• Proven professional experience in the implementation of projects in volatile contexts
• In-depth experience in working with authorities at ministerial and municipal level in Türkiye, civil society organisations as well as UN institutions
• Very good knowledge of the regional context

Other Knowledge and Additional Competencies

• Strong management and organizational skills, political sensitivity, and networking skills
• Commitment, team spirit, reliability, diplomatic skills, gender competence, and intercultural understanding
• Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, as well as quick comprehension and an eye for the essentials
• Professional fluency in Turkish and English is required, knowledge of German and knowledge of Arabic will be considered as an asset.
