Welthungerhilfe's Head Office is in Bonn, Germany whilst the Syria Response is managed from our Country Office in Gaziantep. Welthungerhilfe was established in Turkey in 2013 specifically to help people who are affected by the Syria Crisis. Since then, the organisation has expanded its program scope and scale to make the greatest possible contribution to meeting humanitarian needs in Turkey and North West Syria. Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz and Afrin, as well as Gaziantep, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

Vocational Training and Labour Market Assistant in Hatay 

The position is to be filled by March, 2025, with a contract duration until 31.12.2025. Employment location will be Hatay, Turkey. 

Your responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Project, the Project Officer, and the Vocational Training and Labour Market Officer in the Hatay office, the Vocational Training and Labour Market Assistant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders of the project and ensure the soft skill, technical trainings are smoothly implemented. The Vocational Training and Labour Market Assistant will be supporting the Vocational Training and Labour Market Officer and the field team while conducting the activities in the relevant sectors (Livelihood, designing and rolling out youth initiatives) and ensure smooth implementation, close follow up and accountability to affected population. The tasks of the Vocational Training and Labour Market Assistant shall be:

• Support the implementation of Livelihood related activities, and youth initiatives and ensure adherent follow up on work plan.
• Coordinate and follow-up with relevant stakeholders (internal departments and external stakeholders) on daily basis.
• Ensure close coordination with the liaison and security FPs, and relevant authorities.
• Support the reporting and documentation of the project on regular basis and in alignment with Welthungerhilfe and donor regulations.
• Support the administrative side of the project in Hatay Office.
• Work with the field team and MEAL department to follow up on documentation and monthly IPTT.
• Represent WHH in the UN clusters (ERL, LI, CwG) and relevant working groups and ensure attending strategic meeting when requested.
• Ensure submission of reports on time.
• Support the HoP in developing technical SoP in relevant sectoral areas of Early Recovery, Livelihoods.
• Conduct regular visits to the project implementation areas in the field.
• Prepare weekly plans, report them to the focal point of the project, liaison and security FPs.
• Support with supervising other activities especially in terms of labor mediation for Turkish and Syrian youth.

Based on the project needs, the Vocational Training and Labour Market Assistant may be asked to travel between cities and/or NW Syria requested by the supervisor and/or line manager.

In Addition to the above, the Vocational Training and Labour Market Assistant might be asked to carry out other duties requested by supervisor or line manager as needed.

Your profile

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications;

• Education: At least B.A Degree required.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in vocational training and labour market mediation or 4 years of experience in humanitarian response.
• Language: Turkish skills are required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Education: University degree on Business Administration, Commerce or any relevant field.
• Experience:
  • Previous experience working in the Hatay is an advantage.
  • Experience in Livelihood activities.
  • Experience in security/crisis management
  • Coordination and organizational skills - even under a high workload
• Language: Arabic and / or English skills are an advantage.
• Skills:
  • Ability to work in a multinational team.
  • Very good skills in MS office
  • Well versed on the accountability and protection mainstreaming during the project cycle stages.
  • High level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to build a network, initiate the work and work in a team under pressure.
